Are blenders loud?

One thing is for sure, all blenders make noise when they operate. A blender is simply a device that converts energy into movement and sound.

Without getting too technical, an electric motor provides the energy needed to turn the blades which causes the parts of the blender to rub together and create all sorts of noise.

How loud are blenders?

There’s no standard for sound. That means you can’t tell how much power it has just by listening to it. Some factors that affect sound levels are jar fullness, blade speed, and motor horsepower.

No matter how good a blender’s sound insulation is, you’ll still hear it working away.

Why are blenders loud?

Blenders are loud because they contain a powerful electric motor that spins extremely fast to break down food into smaller pieces.

Blender noise problems can also be attributed to the blender blade assembly becoming loose or dislodged resulting in an unbalanced system. This will result in loud vibration, noise and even motor burnout if not corrected.

Blade assemblies often come out of alignment due to dropping or other mishandling by the user.

Assembling blenders with glass containers can be noisier than those made from hard plastic materials, but some models designed for home use may still emit a high-pitched squealing noise due to poor quality or a defect in the appliance.

Blender noise problems can also be attributed to certain ingredients used in recipes for homemade sauces or soups, such as cooked rice or grains. Blenders may emit an unpleasant noise from the friction caused by these products against the blades.

Health risks from louder blenders?

The louder the blender, the more likely you’ll damage your hearing if you’re exposed to it for prolonged periods of time. Researchers say long-term exposure could also pose health risks including high blood pressure, upset stomach, buzzing in the ears and difficulty sleeping.

Kids should not be exposed to such loud noises as it can permanently harm their hearing. It’s important to always follow safety instructions and regularly clean your blender’s blade assembly. If you have the choice, go with a quieter blender.

How to reduce the loud noise of blenders? In 6 easy steps

  1. Use of rubber or plastic washers instead of metal ones
  2. Replacing worn parts in the machine with new ones. This reduces the vibration which causes the machine to make more noise than usual
  3. Changing certain settings on some blenders while blending. Press more fruit into the blades while blending and place less heavy ingredients at the bottom while blending. Ingredients at the bottom require stronger force for smashing them, therefore, they produce more vibration leading to excess noise
  4. When there is heavy fruit in a blender, you have to press harder since it doesn’t blend properly with the lighter ingredients already present in the blender. This causes more vibration leading to loud noise production
  5. A number of blenders come with a blender foam separator or internal sieve at their base which separates the foam that is usually caused by blending heavier ingredients like ice or carrots
  6. This foam settles on the bottom part of the blender container while the normal smooth mix stays at the top since it doesn’t have any weight to settle down, thus eliminating excess noise

The modern blenders are much more advanced compared to their predecessors in terms of features and capabilities, but the noise produced while use still remains the same or increases due to faster working blades which cause louder vibrations leading to noisy output.

However, the following few simple tips solve this problem for most of us, but if you are facing this issue often then it’s time for you to get a new quieter blender with less vibration mechanism.
